Vale started this match like world-beaters but ended up also rans against a side who needed three points to end relegation fears. Once again Vale boss Hugh Hamill rang the changes with top scorer Ward, Rogers, Jim Meechan and Goodwin rested as Dougie Wilson started his first game since October against Rob Roy at Adamslie. The first half belonged to Vale as they were so far in front as they played their opponents off the park. They deservedly took the lead after 24 minutes when McKenzies skill set up Dougie Wilson and his well struck volley flew into the roof of the net. Half Time 1-0. |

After McKenzie and Wilson both passed up great chances to regain the lead Vale were punished for some sloppy play when "Rabs" took the lead. Kerr's cross from the right being headed home by Martin Gallacher. Glaring misses by Wilson and McKernan summed up a disappointing evening for Vale. Vale were best served by Barton, Wardle and man of the match Alex Lacy. |
